The Cedars Breast Clinic of the MUHC clinic provides a much-needed window of hope for women facing breast disease. It aims to provide women of all ages and walks of life with fully integrated health care and support during one of the most difficult times of their lives.
The Cedars Breast Clinic of the MUHC is a major regional and supra-regional referral centre for patients diagnosed with breast disease. Close to 25,000 women pass through its doors annually. As a university health centre, it is involved in critical, multi-centric clinical research trials that shape the future of breast cancer care. It delivers state-of-the-art treatments to patients, and educates future health care professionals.
In October 2016, 1ère Avenue sponsored Cedars Cancer Foundation’s public lecture on breast cancer. The lecture, which took place at the Cedars Cancer Centre of the McGill University Health Centre (MUHC), influenced 1ère Avenue’s commitment to the cause. Judy Martin, breast cancer survivor and creator of the Bell Fund, has that effect on people.
It was after this meeting that the Boutique 1ere Avenue fund joined forces with Ms. Martin and the Bell Fund to directly support the MUHC Comfort Kit*. More than 4,500 people are diagnosed with cancer at the MUHC, and patient visits are often long and exhausting. The goal is to give every newly-diagnosed MUHC cancer patient a Comfort Kit* to ease their discomfort and provide much-needed comfort.
Boutique 1ère Avenue has striven to have a positive impact in the community for over thirty years by providing an intimate, fashion-forward experience for its clients. Looking good and feeling good is crucial to self-care, so creating the Boutique 1ère Avenue Fund made perfect sense.
